  Mystery

There is so much uncertainty as to what went wrong that January night, beginning with the mystery of WHY the brand new aircraft lost radio contact with controllers, then traveled more than 1000 miles off course before plummeting into the Atlantic Ocean.  Was there a mechanical problem as so many have theorized, was there an onboard medical emergency,  or did pilot fatigue play a role?  One thing is certain:

The mystery and intrigue of why N441NC went down is as prevalent today as it was almost four decades ago.
